The word Nirvana literally means blown off. Additionally, it is a term associated with Buddhism, representing the ultimate state of soteriological release and liberation from rebirths in Samsara.The Chinese title of this piece first appeared in the modern poem with the same title, written by Guo Mo-ruo (éƒæ²«è‹¥). His long poem mentions that phoenixes are envoys of happiness in our world. They carry all the sadness and hatred and fly into the flame every five hundred years. By ending their lives, they bring happiness and peace to the world. After the ordeal, they can be reborn from the ashes with even stronger bodies.In Buddhism, pain in life is inevitable, but suffering is optional. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Our heartfelt prayer is that this music serves to awaken people of all religious traditions to the sacred musical treasures of Islam and that it contributes to interfaith harmony. CarolAnn Barrows & Taylor Kroff The Mevlidi Sherif, the finest expression of reverence for Muhammad (pbuh), forms an essential part in the religious instruction of most Turkish minds. We hope that this new symphony will foster an interest and understanding of the Muslim soul, even for many who have little direct contact with the world of Islam. Considering how Christians feel about their Christmas carols provides some understanding of what the Mevlidi Sherif (or mawlud) means to Muslims. Over 500 years ago Süleyman Çelebi, from the Great Mosque at Bursa, wrote the Mevlidi Sherif (then entitled Vesiletu’n-necat) so that Turks would have access to the magical, mystical story of their beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which had previously only been available in Arabic. Over the centuries this epic poem has been recited and sung in Mosques and in homes; on countless occasions of rejoicing and sorrow, such as births, weddings, house blessings, graduations, and especially to celebrate the Night of Power and the Birthday (mawlid) of Muhammad (pbuh). Some consider it to be the most frequently recited poem in the world. In 1942, as an act of interfaith and goodwill, Mr. F. Lyman MacCallum, a Christian missionary who was born in Turkey to missionary parents, translated into English this epic poem and published it in a journal dedicated to promoting East/West understanding. This was a remarkable artistic feat as MacCallum stayed true to the traditional Turkish poetic meter, mathnawī of fâ’ilâtün fâ’ilâtün fâ’ilün, as well as holding fast to the authentic meaning of the original text. In 2015, Dr. Timuçin Çevikoğlu, from Ankara University in Turkey, discovered MacCallum’s English translation of this most beloved poem. With the intention to help those in the west better understand the very heart of Islam, he invited sacred music singer, Ms. CarolAnn Barrows from Maui, Hawaii, USA to be the first person to ever sing the Mevlidi Sherif in English. He asked her to compose music that would appeal to western sensibilities. Ms. Barrows interviewed many composers to assist her. It wasn’t until she heard from Mr. Taylor Kroff from Austin, Texas, U.S.A., that she knew she’d found the right person for the task. Using digital technology they were able to work together, even though thousand of miles apart. They amended and re-translated the text of the original English version of the poem and composed the Mevlidi Sherif Symphony ~ in English. The recording is now available online all over the world. This music was born out of our desire to help non-Muslims appreciate the love all Muslims have for their Prophet Muhammad (pbuh); to create greater understanding and peace among nations. We are not suggesting that anyone change their faith, but rather that greater world peace will be achieved by understanding and accepting the faith of others. We pray that this music will serve to remove the boundaries which divide different religious faiths by bringing to full light the underlying wisdom with which they are all united. The melody used to symbolize the EU comes from the Ninth Symphony composed in 1823 by Ludwig Van Beethoven, when he set music to the Ode to Joy, Friedrich von Schiller's lyrical verse from 1785. The anthem symbolises not only the European Union but also Europe in a wider sense. The poem Ode to Joy expresses Schiller's idealistic vision of the human race becoming brothers - a vision Beethoven shared. In 1972, the Council of Europe adopted Beethoven's Ode to Joy theme as its anthem. In 1985, it was adopted by EU leaders as the official anthem of the European Union. There are no words to the anthem; it consists of music only. In the universal language of music, this anthem expresses the European ideals of freedom, peace and solidarity. The European anthem is not intended to replace the national anthems of the EU countries but rather to celebrate the values they share. The anthem is played at official ceremonies involving the European Union and generally at all sorts of events with a European character. Ode to Joy (German original title: An die Freude) is the anthem of the European Union and the Council of Europe; both of which refer to it as the European Anthem due to the Council's intention that, as a semi-modern composition with a mythological flair, it does represent Europe as a whole, rather than any organisation. It is based on the final movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony composed in 1823, and is played on official occasions by both organisations. At sunrise it asks God to bring Joy to the world; at noon it gives Thanks to the Lord and at sunset it asks Him to bring Peace to the world. In an exciting coda singers use stage-whispers to exhort the listeners to share Peace all around. It can be sung by ladies voices only or with an optional but very satisfying Bass part. There is also a simplified version suitable for schools or community/church groups. The attached audio clip is a live recording of an SSA choir. In a soulful manner, the piece begins with the familiar song When Peace Like a River. This soulful hymn insists on finding peace, regardless of the world’s sorrows. The music then moves to a majestic trumpet processional. Entitled Soulful Peace, this tune honors those who made it possible for us to feel peace: parents, caregivers, family members, mentors, teachers, friends, and veterans who have served our country. Whether we feel the soulful melody in honor of them or in their memory, they remain an important part of our peace. After shifting to a calming woodwind verse, the processional then crescendos to a very emotive, full band verse. After the climax, the processional settles and gives way to a delicate chorus of It is Well With My Soul. The hymn tune begins delicately in the flutes, yet the brass echo the stately processional. The hymn majestically builds toward its own climax, accompanied by a trumpet fanfare. This triumphant piece reminds us that it can indeed be Well With My Soul!.

Or who braught peace to the tension between Natives and English? Squanto is credited for doing both of these things. One of the first recoreded Native Americans, Squanto lived from 1585 to 1622. He was part of the Patuxet tribe, and taught settlers how to satisfy basic needs. And as far as the eye can see, there is no band music dedicated for him. So I have made a piece showing what may have happened when the settlers came. While not completly accurate, It is a great representation (and honor to Squanto) for your next concert!. The piece begins on a nice warm day, in a playful, dancelike movement, this quickly turns to anger as they see a bird that is not able to be hunted. This confusion leads to the mysteriousness that was most likely happening upon the natives. They start to pray to their gods. All of a sudden, the ship lands and a war breaks out! But Squanto wants to embrace this new culture they have brought, which slowly calms the fighting down. Eventually, the English Culture (represented by Hot Cross Buns) is embraced in the polytonal ways (disagreement). The final part is a chorale representing peace.Errata:Â 107: Singing is stopped.

Satellite to Planet Nine is a saxophone quartet inspired by the cosmos surrounding planet Earth. The opening movement, Takeoff, is about the mystery and fear surrounding a possibility of another planet - or black hole - yet to be discovered and the beginning of the journey to find it. The second movement, Hymn for the Moon is dedicated to the closest body of natural rock in our solar system. This movement features the tenor saxophone using a mix of disjunct melodies, smooth jazz, and thick chords to produce a movement of both mysticism and peace as the rocket travels by it. Soca for Saturn is the following movement and is inspired by the Trinidadian popular music known as soca. It is the spark of joy and pure energy that holds the astronauts together as they hold their hopes high traveling to a land that might not even exist at all. The fourth movement depicts the first amount of struggle for the team, Solar Flares, which batter and beat at the crew as they try to find a way through. In the movement the mood is instantly changed with the realization that it is too calm, and soon, meet the purest form of heat and energy. Movement five continues the struggle, but this time with hasty success. Arrival continues where the fourth movement leaves off, but finally they see something in the distance – the planet they have been looking for. They prepare for landing, but with their equipment being nearly destroyed from the solar flares it is not smooth landing. In the final movement, New Gravity, the team ventures out into the new world, which is dark and barren. They feel a disturbing presence around them, and as they search further and further into the cold and dusty landscape, they realize what they are up against – survival. Using what they know, they build on their wreckage and create a new home - The Satellite to Planet Nine.

Shirley Erena Murray.While not much concerned about posterity, I offer this collection for the here and now, as a kind of spiritual autobiography of the years since writing 'Touch the Earth Lightly' (Hope, 2009). The themes will tell you that I have not ceased to centre on peace, partnered with justice, as these related to our own faith journey. But now that I find my life further away from the church and closer to what Jesus is actually pointing to, new elements come into play. Here is one: I have used the words of the hymn 'A Place at the Table' as title for this book, because there are still Christian people not welcome, either at the communion table or at the common table of society. . . . Creating justice and joy means walking into the territory of basic human rights, as Jesus did. It means being aware of our own fragility as well as our planet's, and using technology wisely. . . . Because I live in a highly secular society in Aotearoa/New Zealand, I am conscious of how the stereotypes of Christianity can be cynically dismissed. I long to say that there is so much to understand and embrace in the wisdom, spiritual treasury and survival skills that Jesus has given the world. It is also an interfaith and interactive world I live in, so some of these texts reflect my hope for the 'care and connection making us kin' that seems imperative for our human survival. . . .
