Then the flutes get their chance to play the melody, the saxes their opportunity, and everybody gets into the act, all the way down to the deep, low brass. March of the Trolls - is written on the elementary level for string orchestra and will take minimum rehearsal time to prepare for performance. It is written in 3 part harmony with viola doubling 2nd violin and cello doubling string bass. In the event instrumentation is lacking this concept it will make your group sound fuller and give your players more confidence. It is an easy to play composition written with the young musician in mind and all instruments are written in First Position with simple rhythms throughout. This composition will not only show that music does not have to be difficult to sound good, but will certainly be an excellent addition to your next concert performance. If this piece appeals to you, please try others in my string series by typing RON FLINTJER in the search bar located on the home page. Thank you for your consideration and I wish you and your students much musical success.

Jesus Loves Me is one of the most well known and beloved hymns in the Christian faith. This is a hymn that we all learned at a very early age, perhaps in Sunday School, Bible School or Junior Church. It has been with us since 1862. The lyrics were originally written in 1860 as a poem by Anna B. Warner. Then in 1862, the poem was put to music by William Bradbury. This beautiful hymn has withstood the test of time like Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross and so many more.This arrangement is written for Brass Quintet and has three verses and choruses. The first version closely follows the original harmonic structure without any deviations. The second version utilizes a different harmonic sequence and includes some rhymic changes in a few spots. Finally, the third version again includes a different harmonic sequence, modulates to a different key and contains an extended ending. This wonderful piece can be played as special music for your church service, or offertory.

As songwriter Paul Anka once philosophized, Memories are times that we borrow to spend when we get to tomorrow. In this piece, composer Ron Flintjer has fashioned a composition that requires no lyrics to be understood. Written in the key of D concert in lilting 3/4 time, Reminisce encourages one's mind to drift aback over the years. Initially, a major key signature signals the good times in life. Next, a change to a minor key recalls the not-so-good times. Finally, the piece resolves back to the original major key, signaling that while all lives will see a combination of good and bad, on the whole life is truly good. Reminisce is written for Middle School / Beginning Intermediate.

After chow, they lay on their bedrolls, reminiscing about their hometowns, their adventures, and maybe the gal they left behind. When it's time to settle in for the night, they watch the clear skies above and maybe point out a shooting star or two. Then it's time for sleep, before another hard day on the trail arrives too soon. Written it 3/4 time, The Cowboy Waltz is a relaxing, comfortable piece for Beginning String Orchestra. Watch out! You might just catch some of your audience snoozing - along with the cowboys - afterwards! This chart has three part harmony, as the second violin and viola play the same part as do the cello and string bass. Your first violin is on his or her own!
