This is an adaptable quintet for developing musicians. It is in a rondo form where the main tutti \"theme\" keeps returning, having episodic themes played by varying voices each new section. This is meant to be a great early journey into the joys of chamber music. This would also work fine for older musicians as well. The melodies and harmonies are \"regal\" so this music would fit into a variety of settings.

Published by John McAllister (A0.778240). Rondo for Band is a great, fun piece for developing band. It is composed in the most basic of Rondo forms with a ABACA.... aaand done form. It continually comes back to the catchy and syncopated main theme. In the non-A tutti sections, smaller groupings of instruments get a chance to shine (woodwinds, low brass, etc). Playing this piece could also be a great chance to begin teaching students about musical form, with rondo being the easiest to understand. Then you can slap Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca on the speakers and BAM, music history!

This is an original tune that would be great for musicians' first chamber ensemble. It is also totally playable with a full concert band / wind ensemble as well. There are five different parts (SSATB) and can be played by brass quintet, woodwind quintet, saxophone quintet, clarinets, or any combination in-between.
In a rondo-type form, this is a triumphant overture that has a "regal" quality to it. All of the notes, dynamics, and articulations are what is typically learned in the first year (maybe two) of playing. Start the chamber ensembles early!!!!

Usually on those flights I will work on music, sleep, listen to music, or watch a show on my phone. However, on this particular leg of a flight, I happened to spend a portion of the trip staring out the window (which is unusual for me as I am prone to bouts of vertigo for which I have series of techniques to stave it off) admiring the beautiful scenery unfolding in front of me. The opportunity to set this scene to music became a reality when Jim McAllister, director of bands at Lincoln Memorial University and one of my best friends in the world, approached me about a commission. I wrote him an expansive hypermetric piece (over 400 measures in one movement) that reflects my thoughts, feelings, and impressions as I admired the view from sky.Flying was commissioned by and is gratefully dedicated to the Lincoln Memorial University Band and its world class conductor, James McAllister.

This is four original and contrasting quartets for any four band instruments (flute, oboe, mallets, percussion, trombone, tuba, saxophone, euphonium, baritone, marimba, bells, xylophone, clarinet, trumpet, tenor sax, bass clarinet, soprano sax, etc). This is designed for younger players and would be a great intro into chamber music. There is also an optional PERCUSSION part for snare and bass. Here are the movements: Triumphantly - a fanfare-like introduction in a marcato marziale style. Lightly - a lighter, staccato fun bouncy tune Serenely - the lyrical selection for legato, sustained playing Majestically - Similar to the first movement, a brilliant and optimistic finish with strong accents and harmonies This is a part of the four quartets for all series and can be combined with the same one of different transpositions.
