For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry Eternal Bridge was made to be performed by a group of six soloists playing the following instruments: Oboe, Harp, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass. It is not a difficult piece once learned. It is really a great fun for the players and very easy listening too, It covers a very wide range of audience demands. There is a groove feeling on it that makes it very pleasant to most all people. Because of its plasticity the piece allows many interpretations, therefore I did not made much use of interpretation symbols in order to leave to the performers the freedom of doing their own. Bowing and fingering are left totally virgin at the hands of the schools or the creativity of the performing Artists. P.S. - The score was written on Finale. The sound file For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry, was performed with samplers from Garritan and conceived as an audio support for the presentation of the score. Imagine a little railway station, a train that comes and stops, and your friends go inside. As you step on the little stairs to go inside, the doors close letting you out, and the train starts rolling. It speeds up very fast and enough so you can`t jump out of the little stairs back to the ground, you are holding now to the iron bars around the doors of the train, you see your friends and the people inside but they can`t see you, they can`t hear you, and you notice that the train is now on a bridge so high, that you can`t see the earth any more. Wind is blowing around me and I feel this cosmic cold and everything starts to twist around in a gigantic spiral. I still feel the Gravity but it goes in all directions at the same time pushing me violently and I feared to fail the grip on the iron bars and fall down, in an imaginary endless abyss. Little by little the speed of the events slows down progressively until everything freezes. Now, The other side of the bridge does not exist at all, neither the beginning or up or down. The train disappeared in a glimpse and I noticed that I was not falling down, just hanging there out in hyperspace, Free from Gravity. I lost the fear of falling in the abyss, it felt kind a good, because the only thing that I could see was light, pure beautiful bright white light, I was floating in light, I realised I could stay there forever, but then I felt lonely and wanted to come back home. When I finally woke up, I wrote this words in Portuguese and made a song out of it. the words go like:Ponte eterna abismo sem fundo - Vento ciclónico medo profundo - Comboio gelado lentidão d`aço - Espiral eterna suspensa no espaço - Maos agarram a vida duas barras d` aço - Corpo sacudido em espasmos de medo - Alucinação divina acordar de um sonho Eternal Bridge endless Abyss - Cyclonic wind deep Fear - Frozen Train slowness of steel - Eternal spiral suspended in space - Hands cling to life on two bars of steel - Body shaken into spasms of fear - Divine hallucination waking up from a dream

I originally arranged it for Voice with Quartet accompaniment in F, with my daughter, Alice Rose Wild, who sings on the live recording. You can hear our recording of the whole song on my channel if you type in Skinny Black Dogs, Capriccio Quartet, ‘All I want for Christmas’ into Youtube. More recently I have created this version for String Quartet in the key of G. At the moment I have only the Sibelius computer score, and hope to record it with Capriccio Quartet once the covid pandemic is at an end. Suspend your disbelief!Why choose my Arrangement?The arrangement is in a great key for strings and most of the double stopping includes an open string. In one or two places the double stopping is a bit more tricky, so for younger players it would be better perhaps to miss out one of the notes, or to play them consecutively.The Intro.For the first violinist I include two versions of the intro and recommend that the quartet listen to the original, or to Alice’s recording for speed and performance tips. It is quite difficult to get the computer to do it musically, so the video intro is only intended as a rough guide. One of the enclosed options is intended as a rehearsal version, and has the lyrics to help. I have bowed it to include lots of downbows, and recovery of bows, which will help the other members to follow. The tricky sextuplet and triplet ornament at bar 10 can be omitted altogether. Simply pause on the ‘C’ and then recover the downbow for the next bar.I also include two versions of the violin two and viola parts. One is on two pages as a smaller font, and one on three pages with a larger font.For cellists who are a bit daunted by the solo at letter A , simply play the fourth position semi breve Gs at bar 12 and at bars 13 and 14 too, and revert to the original score at bar 15. ie Six semibreve Gs. Perhaps a harmonic D at bar 15 would be easier than a shift at this point, and then join in unison with the rest of the band.The song moves between a straight crotchet pulse and lots of syncopated lines. This will be difficult to read on paper, but I always recommend listening to the song many times and then doing it by ear, using the notes on the page as a guide. Try not to play them too literally.PrintoutsPages 1 - 10 are for Look Inside Options only.Pages 11 - 28 includes all PartsPage 29 onwards is the optional Score for rehearsals. The vocal version is proving popular, but for a standard quartet Wedding and Events repertoire I hope that people will enjoy this arrangement. They are all attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts or end-of-semester events. They are fairly easy to play too and the flexible instrumentation allows any players to take a solo with the melody part. They can be played by string quartet, string orchestra or ideally string ensemble plus any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. This publication consists of a score showing the four-part ensemble, keyboard and percussion parts. There are separate parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello/bass, percussion and keyboard. Additional instruments are not essential but they add contrasting tone colour. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible the keyboard player should improvise around the part and chords shown. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option.Every instrumental part (except percussion) also shows the melody line. This allows anyone to take a solo and play the melody, while the other players remain tacet. Solos can be decided in advance and the parts marked accordingly. Just cross out what you don’t need! The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a small bass drum or hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.

They have been arranged for strings, keyboard, optional guitar, recorder or any C-pitched instruments and simple percussion. In this series, Renaissance Hits for Strings, some of the most well-known dances from Terpsichore are included. They are all attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts or end-of-semester events. They are fairly easy to play too and the flexible instrumentation allows any players to take a solo with the melody part. They can be played by string quartet, string orchestra or ideally string ensemble plus any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. This publication consists of a score showing the four-part ensemble, keyboard and percussion parts. There are separate parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello/bass, percussion and keyboard. Additional instruments are not essential but they add contrasting tone colour. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible the keyboard player should improvise around the part and chords shown. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option.Every instrumental part (except percussion) also shows the melody line. This allows anyone to take a solo and play the melody, while the other players remain tacet. Solos can be decided in advance and the parts marked accordingly. Just cross out what you don’t need! The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that. Â

This collection is comprised of Oh Sing a Song of Bethlehem (KINGSFOLD), Veni, Veni Emmanuel, and Shepherd Serenade, arranged for intermediate String Trio (Violin, Viola, Cello). This arrangement of KINGSFOLD presents the melody with a chordal accompaniment pattern in the first verse. It then moves into a contrapuntal trio and finishes with a rousing third verse that returns to the chordal accompaniment pattern to end the arrangement. The haunting Advent carol, Veni, Veni, Emmanuel, is arranged reflectively to encourage contemplation of the coming of the Christ Child. The prelude length medley, Shepherd Serenade, presents several songs centered around shepherds. It contains both Christmas and non-Christmas melodies (The Lord's My Shepherd (BROTHER JAMES' AIR), Rise Up, Shepherds and Follow (FOLLOW), The King of Love My Shepherd Is (ST COLUMBA), He Shall Feed His Flock from Handel's Messiah, and Who Is He in Yonder Stall). A sonata in C minor for string orchestra or quintet of two violin parts, viola, cello and double bass. Inspired by baroque forms, it is intended as a relatively simple study with a few more challenging passages. The first movement is a fugue on a robust subject, played at an andante pace. This is followed by a simple chorale-like Lento movement. Finally, a chaconne played Presto - or as near to it as possible! The total duration is around 4 1/2 minutes.
