Though the work bearing this title is a portrait of childhood, it is a childhood quite different from the purely gameplaying and dreamlike childhood that is customarily represented. The childhood described here is carrying the seed, in all its purity, of all positive and negative qualities to be found the fully-grown men: a childhood both angelic and diabolical, and indeed very close to Henry James' The Turn of the Screw which was the direct inspiration for this monodrama. Its growth follows the innumerable sudden changes, turns and contrasts of the unsophisticated spirit. There is hardly any development at all, as each idea gives birth to the next or rejects the previons one, being object to every impulse, every tempest, every flux, every fear and delight. After a dreamlike introduction, in which two simple melodies stand out, comes a sudden awakening, Allegro, stamped all over with lavish and forever regenerating dynamism. A sudden halt leads a kind of outburst from the most simple folklore is singing, in regular, repeated notes. Again the question mark leads us to another melody, Tranquillo, of a sweet tempo, but brilliantly decorated with counter-point, its cursive traits leading this time to a kind of roguish march (Vigoroso). Yet soon there emerges a melancholic chant, Largo, in the Cromorne's timbre, and then, in the highest register of the Trumpet there reappears like a metamorphosed memory, the theme of the second movement. Passing other episodes, we come to Tempo giusto, insistent and glorious, interrupted by other passionate figures, cut off by unsettling silent moments and taken up again in always accelerating volleys.

Handel’s great set of 12 Concerti grossi (= Grand Concertos, in the first edition) op. 6 are somehow a bit related in spirit, through their power and diversity, with Beethoven’s string quartets. Therefore, here they are arranged for the more ‘abstract’ and ‘timeless’ medium of the string quartet, allowing also for an addition to the repertoire of the respective ensembles. Articulation, tempo and dynamics indications were specified or added where needed, and all the trills were indicated to start with the upper auxiliary note, not only according to the Baroque performance practice but also fitting to the melodic contour. Concerto grosso in G minor, op. 6 no. 6: 1. Largo affettuoso – dark and tragic; 2. A tempo giusto – a severe, angular and peculiar fugue; 3. Musette (Larghetto) – lengthy, pastoral and elegiac, with a rather agitated middle section; 4. Allegro – energetic, in the style of Vivaldi; 5. Allegro – dance-like but serious and with some brusque gestures. Total duration 13 min 30 sec. The mp3 audio clip is the second movement. Performing Rights Organization: SOCAN.

Published by Monica Bergo (A0.976876). 2017 Holiday Contest Entry♫*´¨`*•.¸¸.♫ La favola che non esiste ♫*´¨`*•.¸¸.♫Un libro dalla storia inesistente le pagine le riempie la mia mente m'invento io da sola i personaggi la sua trama ed i suoi intrecci ed un posto anche per me Mi immergo in questa strana dimensione ma il libro forse aveva già un padrone io che volevo essere regina sono solo una gitana e me ne sto ferma a guardare Davanti a me le dame e le regine mi paiono aggraziate ballerine io guardo questi stracci colorati sono sporchi e malandati perchè parlano di me Io che volevo fogli bianchi per riscrivere realtà ritrovo qui la stessa sorte e non è giusto, non mi va così cancello il mio destino e smetto questi panni miei e mi rivesto di quei sogni che non ho vissuto mai E corro sempre così forte perchè fermarmi mai non so e se incontrar dovrò la morte le dirò :per ora no ho questa melodia che esplode e non so dove porterà in questa favola sbiadita cerco un'altra identità Tra queste pagine la mia incertezza ritrovo me stessa, la mia insicurezza non amo il mio corpo e i suoi strani bisogni sviliscono l'anima, annebbiano i sogni io che non mostro il profilo migliore per ogni bugia in cielo un angelo muore e strappo le pagine della mia vita riscrivo la storia, la rendo infinita cosa rimane dopo l'esistenza sospesa in un libro ricerco l'essenza in me che non c'è... Voglio svelarti un segreto ma devi tenerlo per te nel mondo reale che qui non esiste non trovo più un posto per me Io no, non torno più indietro e vuoi sapere il perchè? in questa favola che non esiste c'è il principe giusto per me e io suonerò per il mio uomo che qui non esiste e sarà con me in questa favola bella ma triste con lui danzerò sopra il mio tetto trapunto di stelle e poi brillerò come una lacrima sulla sua pelle gli racconterò storie di fate e di elfi in amore lo proteggerò come si fa con le cose più care ma poi la storia assume un'altra forma (si avvera il sogno) e la gitana a un tratto si trasforma (non sei felice , perchè?) è una regina e vive in un castello con vestiti damascati e servitori accanto a sè si sa che i sogni perdono l'incanto (vuoi la tua vita) se li hai desiderati troppo a lungo (e questa non sei tu) combatti per vederli realizzati ma una volta conquistati non li sai apprezzare più cammino nel mio regno desolato (sei ancora sola) rivoglio solamente il mio vestito (e la tua identità ) di clown impenitente e sognatore con la musica nel cuore e una lacrima che va Cammino scalza in questa vita e nelle tasche niente ho soltanto un'anima che vibra non me ne vergognerò sarò gitana e poi pagliaccio un cantastorie e d'ora in poi accetterò questa mia vita e tutti quei difetti miei in questo limbo che è il mio mondo ancora io mi cullerò in 1000 foto senza tempo riconoscermi saprò e se ci fosse un'altra vita potendo scegliere sarei una gitana musicista ed ancora l'amerei... ecco si chiude il sipario malato in questo mio libro nessuno è esistito

More information about the CD: alberto.guitarra@gmail.comGioco is a five part piece: Allegro leggiero; tpo. giusto Triste e intenso; poco rubato Scherzando Adagio meditativo Allegro agitato The author wrote:Gioco, an Italian word meaning game, is the title of this guitar work composed in 1994.Gioco is a work of current aesthetic, atonal, built however on a structure as classic as that of a Sonata, of great conciseness and clarity and brief duration. It consists of five movements in which the former has a simple, school sonata shape, with two well-identifiable themes, one ethereal based on sets of bells and harmonics and another choppy, contrasting, in parallel ninth intervals, which are developed and subsequently reexposed at the end of the movement.The second movement is a slow time when the resonance of arpeggiated sounds is important. As will happen in the fourth half, the music conveys a sense of freedom, almost improvisation resulting from its unsympted writing and the irregularity of the measure. The third is a Scherzo in which humorous character is accentuated by the rapid descending and ascending glissandi. No less grotesque is the contrasting quote of Gaspar Sanz's Spaniard played in a singular way as will be seen in the interpretation, suddenly interrupted by the glissandi. The fourth is another slow movement in which resonances are also the center. Here you resort to obtaining a particular, harmonic sound similar to the sound of a gong, by placing paper clip on the three boards of the guitar. The fifth and final time is live movement in the form of a purr in which the different episodes are quotes from the themes appeared in the previous movements. The player says about this work: Work dated in 1994, virtuoso and contrasting, of resounding accessibility, not intending to reach the audience using easy resources but an admirable capacity for communication, Gioco is divided into five movements in which varied colours and textures occur and almost all the abundant classical and contemporary timbric resources of the guitar are exploited with intelligence, (controlled challenges, blows on the board, metallic vibration of a clip...), In this work one of the outstanding findings of its author is the alternative use in the Scherzando of his contemporary language and two recognizable literal quotations of the Aragonese Baroque guitarist Gaspar Sanz, which appear softly in an ironic and evocative loudness. Justino Losada wrote this review:Gioco, represents a continuous game of sonorities of very rich timbric nuances as well as an exacerbated game of frets (such as in its 3rd movement Scherzando), and abundant contemporary resources such as the microtonal vicinity of the detuned passages or the blows on the box for our interpreter to show of his skills, a task that although complicated he knows how to perform perfectly coming out of all difficulties. Rebullida's language is not simple, but the composer is clearly aware of the difficulties to reach a large audience, and to do so he polishes his language by seeking an exchange between modern and ancient sonorities in a continuous game creating a climate of warm and direct communication.
