Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1239681 Composed by David M. Stewart. March. 15 pages. DMStewart Music #835072. Published by DMStewart Music (A0.1239681). This piece, The Palatka Port March, is intended to depict a little of the sense of life in the early years of Floridaon the St. John’s River. It was once a target for ships venturing out to find the New World. It has been used to ferrybarges and livestock. Some simply used it for sailing and transportation throughout the years, and some to catch fishto provide for themselves. The life on this river has been diverse, yet fulfilling over the years and will continue to beso in the future. The melodies in this piece were taken from the shape of the St. Johns River from its upper point in Jacksonville, to where our part of the story ends in Palatka. Notice the falling and rising 8th note runs at the beginning, thisrepresents the rise and the fall of the river as it enters Jacksonville from the Atlantic Ocean. The first strain is alinear, yet very regal melody where the heavy beats follow the contour of the river as it runs south. Here you canpicture the ships coming from Europe across the ocean and the excitement they felt when they reached it. Thesecond strain is more playful and represents the life that the river has provided for people for centuries. The Triorepresents the calmness and civility when Palatka was discovered, and the happiness the settlers must have feltknowing they had found their perfect place to call home. The break strain represents the hard work and efforts thatwere put forth to secure the land and build a community. There would have been many triumphs and manysuccesses, but the journey would have not been easy. The final strain is the culmination of the piece. This is thecelebration and the feeling of personal nobility that all of the settlers felt after taking a river and dirt and building acity. I hope you enjoy, The Palatka Port March!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719681 Composed by Hans Leo Hassler, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Walther, and Martin Luther. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Easter,Sacred. Octavo. 5 pages. Curtis Hanson #2857833. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719681). The chorale in this set of variations is part of a project celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The German chorale has a heritage which forms the basis of many of the hymns associated with the Protestant church, many of which have a close association with Martin Luther either in melody or in text. These chorales have been set by many composers in the late Renaissance and Baroque periods in various harmonizations and vocal/instrumental genres, culminating in the grandeur of those by J. S. Bach. This set of variations celebrates the German Lutheran chorale in the Luther-Bach lineage.

Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891215 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Laurie Betts Hughes. Children,Contemporary,Country,Folk. Octavo. 34 pages. Dandelion Music Press #3256941. Published by Dandelion Music Press (A0.891215). Lights of the Western Sky is a compilation of 3 celestial American folk songs collected by Ruth Crawford Seeger, commissioned by Casper Children's Chorale to celebrate the 2017 total solar eclipse visible in Casper, Wyoming in honor of Mick McMurray. The pieces are connected not only by the folk style and the star subject, but also by tracing the course of a day, and by focusing on the connection of the outer world to the inner soul.I. Bright Morning Stars-- An additive processional on the ultimate theme of children singing. Though the traditional verses state that the fathers are down in the valley a-prayin''' and the mothers have gone to heaven a-shoutin' (or vice versa), the lyrics have been freely adapted in the folk tradition of floating verses (adapting lyrics to personal experience) to describe the children's experience. The opening percussion motif is intended to evoke Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man.II. Oh, Watch the Stars-- Oh, Watch the Stars and Great Big Stars, combined in unique ways. The two songs used, Oh, Watch the Stars and Great Big Stars, are distinct in their own right. They have been fused together in this movement, borrowing the text from one and using the tune from the other, and modifying one to partner with the other when presented simultaneously. A fusion of two styles, this movement opens solemnly and culminates in a hoedown showdown.Laurie Betts Hughes, ASCAP | www.LaurieBettsHughes.com

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1414908 By Fernando Ortega. By Robert Lowry. Arranged by Kenneth Martin. 21st Century,Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Martin Music Editions #996658. Published by Martin Music Editions (A0.1414908). In this stripped-down yet deeply emotive arrangement of Nothing But the Blood of Jesus, crafted in the style of Fernando Ortega and Jesus Culture, the focus is on the interplay between violin, voice, and piano. This rendition radiates a sense of intimacy and contemplation, drawing listeners into a sacred space of worship and reflection. The piano introduces the piece with gentle, lingering chords that evoke a sense of reverence. Its melodies are reminiscent of Fernando Ortega's contemplative style, creating a foundation that supports and uplifts the subsequent elements of the arrangement. As the vocalist begins, their voice carries the timeless lyrics with sincerity and warmth. Each word is infused with meaning, resonating against the piano's backdrop. The vocal delivery, reminiscent of Jesus Culture's heartfelt expression, conveys both vulnerability and deep conviction, inviting listeners to engage with the profound message of the hymn. The violin enters delicately, weaving its melodic lines around the vocal phrases. Its tone is expressive and soul-stirring, adding a poignant layer of emotion to the arrangement. The violin's presence evokes Fernando Ortega's introspective sensibility, enhancing the lyrical depth and drawing out the thematic richness of the hymn.As the arrangement progresses, the piano's role evolves, providing rhythmic support and harmonic depth. The vocal and violin melodies intertwine, creating a dialogue that reflects the spiritual journey depicted in the lyrics. The simplicity of the instrumentation allows each element to shine individually while blending harmoniously together.During the chorus, the arrangement swells with emotional intensity. The vocalist's delivery becomes more impassioned, emphasizing the profound truth encapsulated in the refrain. The piano responds with cascading arpeggios, underscoring the soaring declarations of faith and redemption. In the quieter moments, the violin takes center stage, offering introspective solos that invite contemplation. Its melodic lines soar above the piano's accompaniment, articulating the yearning and gratitude expressed in the hymn's verses. As the arrangement reaches its culmination, the trio of voice, violin, and piano unites in a transcendent climax. The vocal harmonies rise in unison, resonating with the instrumentation to create a moment of profound connection and worshipful response. In this arrangement of Nothing But the Blood of Jesus, the collaboration between voice, violin, and piano channels the spirit of Fernando Ortega and Jesus Culture. Rooted in simplicity yet imbued with deep emotion and spiritual depth, this rendition invites listeners to experience the transformative power of grace and redemption through music.

Composed by Ryan Wigglesworth. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 100' 0. Schott Music - Digital #Q46173. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q46173). English.King Leontes’ jealous rage results in the death of his loyal wife Hermione days after she has given birth. Leontes orders for the baby to be killed, but many years later, truth surfaces as a crocus at the first sign of thaw. Ryan Wigglesworth’s first opera is a luminous, persuasive retelling of William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. His natural sense for dramatic narrative brings clarity to this tragedy-turned-romance, its brooding opening act unfolding gradually into a light-hearted scherzo. Written as the culmination of Wigglesworth’s tenure as Artist in Residence with English National Opera, The Winter’s Tale is not to be missed.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1303052 By Jay Jordan. By Jay Jordan. Arranged by Jay Jordan. Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Historic. Score and Parts. 105 pages. Pro Creations Music #892637. Published by Pro Creations Music (A0.1303052). Requiem for the PequodCaptain Ahab’s story of obsession, and ultimate failure at the hands of Moby Dick is, of course, a well-worn cautionary tale. The tale of the Pequod, the ship that also met its demise as a result of Ahab’s actions is, in my eyes, worth examining. Requiem for the Pequod begins with Two Bells, tolled to mark the end of the day before Ahab and his crew set sail. The minor theme, played by a solo flute, sets the mood as restful, but somewhat ominous at the same time; treatments by the brass in chorale style and then the full ensemble follow. The next three sections beginning at letter A feature up-tempo variations on the main theme (Setting Sail) followed by a lively Sailor’s Shanty at letter D, both depicting carefree life at sea. A return to a melancholy minor theme at letter E portrays the tedium of Months at Sea as the Pequod and her crew travel toward their destination, unaware of the fate that awaits them. The penultimate section beginning at letter F (Fait Awaits) depicts the culminating battle, from the stirring of Moby Dick beneath the waves to the sinking of the Pequod and the death of Ahab and the crew, save Ishmael, who recounts the tragic tale in the final section Epilogue.Â

Published by Marc Micu (A0.1033378). Originally written for my mother for mother's day, this piano composition includes a theme and three variations. My mother made a lullaby melody when I was young to get me to fall asleep. She said that her inspiration for the melody is a culmination of Disney princess movies and Catholic church hymns. This piece reflects on my very spirited childhood with my mother, as well as feelings of tenderness, warmth, care and emotion.MP3 Audio Clip example played by Jackson Poling.

UPC: 749193013151.This anthem of joy and celebration provides two text options commonly sung to the popular hymn tune HYFRYDOL: Praise the Lord! Ye Heavens, Adore Him and Love Divine, All Loves Excelling. A bright, flowing piano accompaniment surrounds the texts while optional handbells add a festive sparkle during the anthem's introduction and interludes. In the concluding stanza, a stirring vocal and/or instrumental descant, along with optional organ and handbells, combine together to accompany choir and optional congregation. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1281191). Key Signature: Fâ?¯ minorTime Signature: 3/4Tempo: Allegro vivace (143)Difficulty: AdvancedWanda Landowska (July 5, 1879 - August 16, 1959) was a Polish harpsichordist and composer who led the revival of the popularity of the harpsichord in the early 1900s. She was one of the earliest advocates and scholars on historically informed performance practices, and she made the first-ever recording of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations on the harpsichord.Landowska was born in Warsaw in 1879 and started playing the piano when she was four years old. As a child, she studied with Jan KleczyÅ?ski and then Aleksander Michalowski. Kleczynski noticed in her lessons that she had an affinity for older Baroque music, and he didn't want to impose his sensibilities onto the already apparent musical prodigy. Consequently, her mother decided that Kleczynski was too lenient of a teacher and sent her to study with the stricter Michalowski, who was a Chopin specialist. When she was 16 years old, Landowska moved to Berlin to study composition with Heinrich Urban, but was discouraged by the rigid curriculum. However, while in Berlin she composed songs and orchestral works, and she met her future husband, Henry Lew. In 1900, the young couple moved to Paris and got married. There she became associated with the Schola Cantorum, and was introduced to Vincent D'Indy, Albert Schweitzer, and other prominent performers and musicologists of the era.Throughout the next ten years, Landowska toured Europe and Russia, and dedicated herself to researching the authentic performance practices of older music. Her husband assisted her in this research, and they often utilized libraries that they encountered while touring. She concluded that it's more appropriate to play Baroque keyboard music on the harpsichord rather than on the piano. By 1909, Landowska and her husband published the book Musique Ancienne, which was the culmination of all of their research regarding the performance practices of Baroque music. She also started teaching harpsichord classes in 1913 at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin.Ten years later, Landowska made her debut in the United States, performing with the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Stokowski. Also in 1923, she performed in the world premiere of Manuel de Falla's El retablo de maese Pedro, where she met Francis Poulenc and asked him to write a harpsichord concerto for her. She also commissioned a concerto from Falla in 1925, which would prove to be a modern masterpiece. In 1929, Landowska performed the premiere of Poulenc's Concert champêtre in Paris. By this time, she had settled in a town north of Paris, and was teaching from her school L'Ã?cole de Musique Ancienne, which she established in 1925. She offered private and group courses and an annual summer concert series that was very popular. Landowska taught and performed in this capacity until 1940, when she had to abandon the school, her extensive library, and her home because of World War II. With the assistance of her student Denise Restout, she escaped to Portugal and then sailed to the United States, and eventually settled in Lakeville, Connecticut. She continued to perform and teach in the U.S., and at the age of 70 she recorded the complete Well-Tempered Clavier, which was highly acclaimed. Landowska was 80 years old when she passed away in Lakeville in 1959.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828227 Composed by John Hatton. Arranged by Paul Thurmond. 20th Century,Baroque,Christian,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Paul Thurmond #4968929. Published by Paul Thurmond (A0.828227). Tune: DUKE STREETUse: Prelude, PostludeOne Sunday my church was singing Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun as the opening hymn. It’s our tradition that the last stanza of a hymn is sung in unison, so that I as the organist can change the harmonization and keep things interesting. Sometimes I know ahead of time what I’m going to do, and sometimes I make it up on the spot.On this particular morning I planned on being spontaneous. (Can spontaneity be planned?) When we got to the final stanza, I threw on the 16′ pedal reed and went to town.I don’t know if this is the case for all musicians, but while I’m playing my brain is working on several different levels. Most of these are involved in actually playing the music, but there’s also a running commentary on how things are going. This commentary is usually really boring: It’s going okay. It’s going okay. It’s going okay. Sometimes the messages are more interesting: Uh-oh. She just dropped her mute. I missed that chord; remember to circle it when we’re done. My page turner appears to be on fire. So: We’re in the final stanza of Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun. Big, majestic hymn. Over a hundred congregants and choir members are enthusiastically singing in unison. I’m leading them from the organ with an improvised accompaniment that involves all of my limbs. It’s fair to say that I was concentrating hard.Suddenly the commentary part of my brain breaks in: Dude, your feet are totally playing Canon in D. Cool!Canon in D is the most famous work of Johann Pachelbel, a German composer who preceded Bach by a few decades. It’s overused at weddings, but it’s actually a really good piece of music. The original is for three violins and a basso continuo part, which would usually have been played by harpsichord and cello. In this case, the basso continuo plays the same eight measures again and again throughout the piece. This technique of repetition is called a ground bass. While that’s going on, the violins play several different themes on top of it.When I was improvising that Sunday, my feet had accidentally wandered into that ground bass part, which happened to fit nicely with the melody we were singing. During the sermon (sorry Pastor!) I started going through the violin themes in my head, seeing if any of them could also match up with the hymn tune. Some of them worked and some didn’t. I decided to write a sort of theme and variations, where the hymn tune appears in various forms. Sometimes it’s played along with one of the violin themes, and sometimes a violin theme serves as an interlude on its own. And except for one passage, the left hand is always playing some version of the basso continuo theme. I also changed the meter from 4/4 to 3/4 to make it more interesting. It culminates in a climax worthy of a king. I hope you enjoy it.

Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale A setting of an excerpt of RÃo de La Plata en lluvia from Mascarilla y Trébol (1938) by Alfonsina Storni (1938) Copyright © 2020 Adrienne Inglis Founder, composer, and singer with Inversion Ensemble of Austin, Texas, Adrienne Inglis also serves as principal flute with the Central Texas Philharmonic, flute instructor at Southwestern University, and flutist with flute/harp duo Chaski. She has music degrees from Lewis and Clark College and the University of Texas at Austin. An avid birder and environmentalist, she lives in the rural hill country of Central Texas. Poet Alfonsina Storni began writing during a tumultuous childhood fraught with economic hardships, many disruptive moves, and an alcoholic father. She danced with a theatrical troupe and then became a teacher and journalist. She bore a child out of wedlock and found herself working as a single mother during socially oppressive times. In Buenos Aires she joined the emerging world of women’s rights, becoming an important literary voice in the movement. When her breast cancer returned, her lifelong passion for the sea culminated in her suicide off of the coast of Argentina. RÃo de La Plata en lluvia from Mascarilla y Trébol (1938) lines 1-4 by Alfonsina Storni in the public domain Ya casi el cielo te apretaba, ciego, y sumergida una ciudad tenÃas en tu cuerpo de grises heliotropos neblivelado en su copón de llanto. [The sky was about to embrace you, blind, and you had in your body of gray heliotropes a submerged city, with the misty sky like a chalice about to overflow with tears.] Program note: Commissioned for Dr. Ramona M. Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale of Naperville, Illinois, La ciudad sumergida (The Submerged City) by Adrienne Inglis for four-part treble chorus with nature soundtrack captures the mood of a river, a city, the cloudy sky, and the poet’s own profound melancholy. The sound of rain creates both the ambiance of a misty day on the river and the sensation of cathartic crying from great sadness and pain. The city’s reflection on the river’s surface gives the illusion that the city is submerged in the water. The reflection of the clouds hovering low over RÃo de La Plata looks like gray heliotrope flowers. The apocalyptic images of a submerged city and of tears overflowing from the chalice-sky eerily foreshadow rising sea levels due to anthropogenic global warming. The nature soundtrack of rain was recorded by the composer in the hill country of central Texas, July 2020. Performance note: This aleatoric, asynchronous composition is suitable for remote singing along with the video score and nature soundtrack. Observe the order of entrances, but know that it’s not meant to line up exactly. Finish a phrase even if another phrase has started. Diphthongs move immediately to the second vowel sound. Ya begins with the [dÊ’] sound and llanto begins with the [Ê’] sound, both typical of the Buenos Aires accent. Sing quite expressively except for the neblivelado section which is misty and veiled. The director may wish to indicate the rehearsals numbers or the singers may follow the time on the video-or both. Duration: 3:08 Link to video with soundtrack is available from the composer (http://adrienneinglis.com). Acknowledgements: The composer warmly thanks Pablo and Diana Donatti, Ãngeles RodrÃguez Cadena, and Emilio Torres for their contributions to this project and to Dr. Ramona M. Steinberg (A0.870387). This work commemorates the founding and settlement of the western United States. The piece consists of a number of musical episodes that evoke key historic milestones that took place as the west developed and grew over time. The work opens with a fanfare tribute to the mountains and valleys that were first seen by those arriving there. The fanfare starts out majestically and leads into a chorale tune that evokes the calmness of the river and the greenery around it. The clock then moves to a later time when the area was settled by bands of Indian tribes, dwellings and villages. This then melds into tribal life along the river and growth of the Indian culture. Suddenly, the sound of Indian raiding tribes is heard. This then settles down and Pioneer Wagon Trains are heard heading west, their wheels stumbling through mud and rock. In comes the U.S. Calvary. Trumpet calls are heard as the Calvary advances and eventually overcome the Indians, pushing them out of the west. The choral tune heard earlier is brought back which then leads to the sounds of the first trains heading west. As more and more trains arrive, the sound of towns and cities sprouting up is heard. At this point, the music gains momentum as more and more settlers arrive. Dance hall music can suddenly be heard followed by a segment that evokes the building of farms and raising of livestock. The music picks up into the 20th century culminating in a grand return of the opening River Valley fanfare heard at the start of the piece. A popular piece that resonates well with audiences bringing them a spirit of renewal and hope that they will find most uplifting.

Aimed for intermediat brass bands, this piece starts with a gentle lilt (dance) which gather intensity until reaching a symphonic mazurka style dance in the middle. The second of my 'Peebles Beltane Festival Suite' is 'Liltin doon the glen' inspired from the line in the Festival Song. It's around the turn of the 20th century and the young lassies from the many farms and villages from the glens surrounding Peebles, leave their homes to come and enjoy the festival - 'To gather on the village green and hail the festal day' 'Lassies blooming fresh and fair cam liltin’ doon the glen' - they pause for breath now and again and as they join their friends along the way, the dance intensifies into a mazurka style. At 2:10 the fanfares herald the many compliments they get from 'Huntsman gallant and sheperds grey, doughtyand blythsome men' they encounter along the way. It culminates with all the lassies getherin' at the Mercat Cross. Festal Song Lyrics - https://tracscotland.org/wp-content/u... https://www.peeblesbeltanefestival.co...

The second of the two dance-movements in the Paranormania-Trio, that (in reference to the slavic myths of the Wila) depicts a group of ghostly figures gathering around a person and forcing them to dance and play themself into a breathless frenzy.Featuring an upbeat syncopated dance-rhythm and a constant switch between two different themes and tempos, this ghostly dance steadily increases its emotional intensity, so much so that the instrumentalists even get out of tune at one point. After a short planned tuning-break a sort of anti-climax is reached at the end, where all the building-up culminates in an almost sarcastic, morendo-like fadeout, marking the collapse of the poor soul that ultimately danced themself to death.
