Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1124889 Composed by Phil Beaman. Classical,Holiday. Score. 2 pages. Phil Beaman #725661. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1124889). Pure fun !! This Galop and Waltz in Oom-pah style is in AABA form. The A theme is a Vivace 2/4 Galop, then a slower 4/4 bridge to repeat the Galop. Then the B theme is a brisk 3/4 Waltz, right back to the 2/4 Galop. This catchy tune is a rousing crowd pleaser for any concert or recital. Works well with either Classical Organ or Theatre Organ. Perfect for Oktoberfest ! Intermediate because of the always Vivace/brisk tempo and the need for controlled playing of the articulation which always varies from staccato to normal to marcato to slurred. The only use of Pedals is during the 5 bar bridge, the rest is manualiter (hands only). 2 page score 2 minutes.

Organ - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.10-998-E Composed by Matthew H. Corl. Advent, Christmas, Christmas-Secular/Holiday, Hanging of the Green. 12 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #10-998-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.10-998-E). A line from the English carol “The Holly and the Ivy” serves as the inspiration and title for this delightful work. The “Merry Organ” presents the carol in styles idiomatic to the organ including fugue and toccata. Sure to be a wonderful addition to a holiday service or concert.

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576016 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary. Score. 33 pages. David Warin Solomons #44013. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576016). This is a suite of 5 organ pieces composed by David W Solomons originally performed by David Carlston Williams on 17 August 2014 on the organ of St Paul's Springfield Road, Sale (Cheshire, UK) Registrations are as suggested by the performer. (the sound sample is a recording of Passacaglia from the subsequent CD recording performed by David Carlston WIlliams in June 2015) The suggested order for this suite is: 1. Passacaglia: based on an ostinato passage in 3 time. The idea behind the passacaglia relates to the origin of the word, it is basically a gentle stroll down the street (pasar la calle in Spanish, which was converted into Passacaglia in Italian) 2. Dorina: a descriptive piece in Dorian mode based on a song about a cat, from the aptly named village of Chattevoix, who stalks, but never catches, a little bird. 3. Playtime: also about a cat, the composer's own cat who is playful and rushes around the house but occasionally stopping to pummel the soft furnishings. 4. Early Evening in Camden Town: a more serious and sad piece - in 3-3-2 time. It is an evocation of the poor folk in Camden and their dreams of what could be, if only….. It was originally a song, which the composer wrote when he was living in London, based on a poem by fellow Londoner Sandra Erös The streets are part of a toy town, waiting to be played with…. 5. The Bishop's Dance: a curious and comical piece in 11 time (3, 3, 3, 2). It comes from the legend of Robin Hood, in which Robin meets the bishop of Hereford, who had hoped to get the better of him, but Robin prevails and forces him to dance. The clumsy attempts of the ungainly Bishop to obey Robin's commands cause great merriment among the merry men To quote our vicar, Rev Barbara, after the recital For me music paints a picture, and, for that, I have got this picture of someone going for a stroll in their village and then they came across a very old cat wandering down the street imaging it could catch birds but never catching them. And then it would lie down for a sleep and dream of the days when it was a kitten.... It was a very reflective programme and turns our mind about What for the Autumn, what do we need to do next.. it really did fit in with the mood of the year, as we turn towards building up the programme for next year... So thank you, it gave us time to reflect in a very beautiful manner.... The suite is also available as separate pieces (with performances by David Carlston Williams).

Voice, Harp - Intermediate - Digital Download Arranged by David Sullivan. Folk, Old-time, Americana. 48 pages. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp
Wonderful tunes that came out of nineteenth century America. Many of the pieces are well known, but received a fresh setting that would be playable on the harp. A few tunes are less well known, or even obscure, but were chosen for their artful melodies. The arrangements translate well on the piano as well as the harp, and Mr. Sullivan also includes guitar chords and lyrics. You'll revive the "Parlor Tradition" of days gone by and make these old tunes live again is part of your own musical tradition. There is a brief historical paragraph on each tune. One interesting piece is the "Persian Princess Waltz." It is from a 1901 method book for the reed organ. This method book was discovered in Mr. Sullivan's garage and was autographed by the author, Mattie Pirtle.

Piano Quartet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548639 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Christmas. 10 pages. Jmsgu3 #3406037. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548639). The First Nowell arranged for Piano Quartet featuring a thought-provoking re-harmonization of the final verse.OriginsThe First Noel is an English Christmas carol. Even more, it was probably written in the late Cornish Renaissance period. While other versions spell the title as Nowell, this is an everyday variation. Furthermore, Noel is an older word meaning “Christmas.†Therefore, “the First Noel†translates as “the First Christmas.†First of all, Gilbert and Sandy published the earliest version. As a result, this version appears in the “Carols Ancient and Modern†songbook of 1823. William Sandy edited and arranged the book. Similarly, his partner Davies Gilbert revised and added the familiar extra verses. The First Noel: Piano Quartet Version brings new harmony in the final verse for more energy and drive.StainerOrganist and composer Sir John Stainer published the most noteworthy customary arrangement in the 1870s. Stainer is, above all, famous for his songbook entitled Christmas Carols New and Old (1871). This volume served as an essential catalyst for reviving the English Christmas carol. Other favorite Stainer arrangements from this book include What Child Is This, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Good King Wenceslas, and I Saw Three Ships.Diatonic FunctionThe melodic structure in the First Noel is uncommon among English folk tunes. It simply repeats one phrase twice and then follows a variation refrain. All three words of the song end on the mediant scale degree. This is unusual because the diatonic function of the mediant is non-final compared to the more usual tonic or even dominant degrees. Consequently, this gives the song an open-ended feeling – like maybe it never ends.Political ContextThe Catholic clergy sang carols outside of the church in Latin. After the Protestant Reformation, the reformers thought it would be better for everyone to sing carols. They decided to bring music back to the common folk. So, they translated the lyrics from Latin into a common language. Moreover, the Protestants wanted more control over the music in the church than what the Vatican allowed. Protestant composers such as William Byrd composed complex polyphonic Christmas music that they called carols. Nonetheless, some famous folk melodies were composed in this era. Eminent composers in the nineteenth century began to revise and adapt them. Consequently, they revived the English carol.
