Sousa's daughter, Helen, made it known that The Thunderer was her mother's favorite march. In this arrangement, everyone gets the lead for a section. This is in the original keys of F and Bb and is playable by intermediate level musicians. The melodies and counter melodies interact so well; this is a great example of Sousa's polyphonic style.
