Upgrade your library of easy trumpet literature with At Last Victorious! easy trumpet quartet. This is a 6/8 march in three sharps. As a trumpet teacher with over forty years of experience teaching beginners, I believe that solid range should be developed over a long period of time. But this doesn’t mean that the beginner students need to wait for their range to improve before they dive deeper into the musical side of the instrument. At Last, Victorious! easy trumpet quartet includes the most difficult combination of skills without moving into our first intermediate level. We will talk more about skill levels below, but let me say that many people would label At Last, Victorious as an intermediate piece. In our skill level system, three sharps and six-eight time signature are both in our second beginner skill level. And yet, the highest note in the first part is fourth space E. At Last, Victorious! easy trumpet quartet is the kind of piece I would assign to my students right before they “graduate†from the second beginner skill level into the first intermediate skill level. At Last, Victorious! is a march in six-eight time signature in three sharps. It is not as long as a traditional march and the “trio†is not technically a real trio (and therefore not marked as such). But I do believe that the piece serves as a nice introduction to marches for beginner trumpet students.

The aim was to create a great solo unplugged coffee-house version with no page turns, though it could still be really useful for any situation. The melody is left intact, some liberties with the harmonies were taken when there is singing. I'm very proud and happy with how it turned out, sometimes you get lucky and the sections fall perfectly into place (which is suprising since there are some odd 3 measure phrases in here). Features:1. Beginner friendly. The chords are so accurate to what the sheet music is doing, that you don't even really need to read sheet music to play this!2. Harmonies that take difficulty, style, voice leading, and melody into consideration3. Condensed lead sheet version that fits on 2 pages to avoid a page turn; yet it is packed with details and naunces.4. Beautifully engraved sections that visually make sense on the page.Tips:1. Measures 8-16 I named that chords as if both guitars were taken into consideration. I'm guilty of sometimes saying, Oh it's just a rock song with power chords, but then you look into the details, and the chords are actually quite jazzy.2. Maybe She sang needs a fermata?3. If a song is in B minor and never changes key, fret 1 will never happens! Be in position 2 for this song! That's why I didn't put fingerings in, they would have been as helpful as confusing.4. Maybe it's a given, but I recommend forcing melody notes on to the chord in one way or another. Sometimes I go on spurts of notating many complex chords to account for the melody, other times I just show one chord per measure but kind of assume that you'll make the guitar work more fancy with the melody notes. Maybe this is overthinking the arrangement, but there is great voicings I'm doing that I want to get across, but sometimes I won't do it because the score will get too busy looking. Just food for thought, depends on your agenda I suppose.

This material also has the aid of a cipher to be used in accompaniment of a harmonic instrument, because there is not always the availability of a professional pianist to accompany the student. In 1986, the Tennessee Dance Theater commissioned the Suite to be performed at Nashville’s Summer Lights Festival. A few years later Edgar Meyer provided the beautiful string orchestra arrangement that is contained in this score. The individual tunes are in various folk styles appearing in a chronological order O’Connor says, not only represents the evolution of American folk music, but also mirrors his own family’s migration from Ireland and Holland to America. It traces the family’s route through the thirteen colonies initially, and then eventually West during WWI nearly 300 hundred years later. O’Connor wrote the pieces in a manner and style he felt his family could have heard along the way. The Suite begins with Irish music, perhaps similar to the music O’Connor’s family brought with them. Then in a thoughtful progression, he reveals music they must have encountered living in early America. Strings & Threads musically describes how folk music styles hundreds of years apart are interconnected – possessing a common thread – from an Irish reel to jazz. The music is suited for advanced and intermediate levels but portions of the piece can be appropriate for beginners.
