LIKE MANY EARLY NEGRO SPIRITUALS AND SEA SHANTIES, THERE IS NO RECORD OF COMPOSERS. RALPH STANLEY AND HIS GROUP HAVE A BLUEGRASS VERSION WITH A DIFFERENT HARMONY, AND THE GROUP PHISH ALSO HAS A RECORDING OF THE SONG.
