The opening is a loud and glorious ensemble; the closing is a soft and introspective sax section.

Black & White Blues is a classic 12 bar slow blues in the key of C, written for intermediate pianists at about grade 3 ABRSM standard.The key to this piece is to relax into the 4-groups of 3 quarter note feel (12-8 time signature). It can be very tempting to rush - but this is the blues, so think relaxed and laid-back.As it's name suggests, there are quite a few chromatic moments throughout the piece, giving a thorough tour of the piano keys! The right hand melody is echoed by the left hand in the second half of the piece and for a challenge there is a fun 'hands crossing over' moment in the closing bars.Black & White Blues comes with a bluesy play-along backing track to enjoy (also available at SheetMusicPlus), once you've got the hang of it!

Even though we most often hear it around Christmastime, it was originally meant to be sung around Thanksgiving in the United States. I arranged this with a bluesy feel to spice up this track and give it a new feel. This arrangement is perfect for an elementary class or a beginner choir to perform. There is one vocal part, one piano part, and chord names for guitar or other instruments to accompany with. It’s presented in the key of G. There are three pages in the score. The duration is approximately one minute so there is plenty of room for repeats in various section or to add extra verses if you wish.
