After the thème, one can propose to the pupils to improvise two measures one after another (with an accompaniment piano or bass, drums, piano): on the A Blues scale (A - C - D - Eb - E - G - A) for the clarinets and soprano saxophones, and the E Blues scale (E - G - A - Bb - B - D - E) for the alto saxophones.
