John Hugh McNaughton (1829 - 1891)

Born: 1829, Cal­e­don­ia, New York. Died: 1891, Cal­e­don­ia, New York. Little is known of Mc­Naugh­ton. His best known se­cu­lar work was The Fad­ed Coat of Blue, a song about cap­tured Un­ion sol­diers in the Amer­i­can ci­vil war. A mon­u­ment to Mc­Naugh­ton stands on the farm where he lived near Cal­e­do­nia.
