Adam Darr (1811 - 1866) Allemagne Adam Darr (Schweinfurt, Germany, 1811 ? Augsburg, Germany, 1866) was a German classical guitarist, singer, zitherer and composer.
Adam Darr began his musical activities at the age of 18 and travelled 16 years throughout Europe performing before royal courts. He when lived as a private teacher in London. When he returned to Germany, first Munich, where he studied zither. In 1856 he moved to Augsburg. At this time he teamed-up with Frederick Brand and started performing throughout Germany as a guitar duo, until his death in 1866. On the 2nd October 1866 Darr, who suffered under depressions, committed suicide. Darr composed several pieces for guitar and a method for zither. There are publications of his guitar Duets in 'Gitarristische Vereinigung e.V.' numbered from I to XIII; two appear as XIV-a and XIV-b (No. XIII is titled 'Dessert') and there is also a Serenade for two guitars. All these pieces can be found in the Boije Collection. Unfortunately these works were not published during his lifetime. Before these editions of Darr's Duets, no music of his had been published.
