Born to a French father expat Netherlands and barber profession, Louis Drouet begins flute by himself before entering the Paris Conservatoire at the age of seven years.
At 16, he is the first flutist and teacher of Louis Bonaparte , brother of Napoleon , King of Holland . After chained trips to England and toured Europe , he became in 1840 director of music at the Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha .
Drouet was a great friend of Felix Mendelssohn . William Gordon , co-inventor of the Boehm flute and Wilhelm Albrecht Otto Popp were his students. It is often called the ' Paganini of the flute. ' (Hide extended text)...(Read all)
