Raphael Dressler (1784 - 1835) Allemagne Raphael Dressler was born about 1784 in Graz. In 1809 he was offered the position of first flutist in the orchestra of Kärntnertortheatre in Vienna, in 1817, he moved to the same position to the royal chapel in Hanover. 1820-1834 he was then in England, on 12.02.1835 he died in Mainz. Dressler was alive so obviously a renowned flautist, flute that his school, op 68 in the years 1827/28 by several publishers almost simultaneously in both London, Bonn and New York was published. That he is not mentioned in the 1837-44 published the first edition of Fétis' Biographie universelle des Musiciens, but only in 1862 published the third volume of the second edition, suggests that Dressler has certainly enjoyed a certain fame. However, later both his works and he himself - completely forgotten - unjustly. His oeuvre - over a hundred works have been published of which about seventy in his lifetime - is next to three concertos for flute and orchestra mainly of chamber music and solo works :. Etudes and Variations for flute solo, flute duos and trios, several works for flute with strings and flute with piano , especially in his last years in Vienna created some duets for flute and guitar.
