Jean-Sébastien Gasnier is a native of Alma in Lac-St-Jean. After a childhood cradled by his father's accordion, which he quickly accompanied on the guitar, the musician went to seek college jazz training before completing a BAC and a master's degree in composition, accumulating in the process close to 20 years of diverse experiences as a composer-performer of new, traditional and popular music ensembles.
As a composer, he instigated several projects that still shine on the airwaves today, including those of Radio-Canada (three albums in the past five years). He was also called upon to sign the music for creations as varied as an equestrian circus show as well as a musical theater piece from the Quebec City region.
A seasoned performer, he has more than 400 performances to his credit (parties, corpo, Quebec Summer Festival, etc.). From percussion to accordion, from mandola to digital audio, Jean-Sébastien immediately opens his horizons to many repertoires, here, elsewhere and from other eras.
A passionate educator, he has set up several workshops on creativity, listening and improvisation, in addition to designing studies aimed at learning the guitar. Beyond his professional and academic work, his approach aims in particular to promote local cultures, while offering an original introspective look at our community.
