Alfredo Teixeira is Professor and researcher in the fields of cultural anthropology (Catholic University of Portugal) . He developed his musical studies at the School of Music Conservatory in the class of organ (Simões da Hora and Rui Paiva). He continued, however, studies in singing with Manuela de Sá, chamber music with Fernando Eldoro, and composition with Jorge Peixinho and Eurico Carrapatoso. He attended the international course in choral conducting from the Lleidatà Orfeo (Catalan) - whit Laszlo Haltay Erwin List and Montserrat Rios - and also training courses for teachers of analysis and composition promoted by the «Gabinete de Educação Tecnológica, Artística e Profissional» (Portugal). These studies were accompanied by experiments in the field of vocal music: regular participation in the National Conservatory's Choir under the direction of Maestro Fernando Eldoro, but also other vocal music projects with Paulo Brandão and Teresita Marques. In 1998, during the contest «Lopes Graça Composition Prize» of the city of Tomar, he saw distinguished the composition «Fragmentos para um De profundis» (from «De Profundis.
