Ira David Sankey (28 August 1840 – 13 August 1908), known as The Sweet Singer of Methodism, was an American gospel singer and composer, associated with evangelist Dwight L. Moody. Sankey's increasing fame as a Gospel singer eventually attracted the attention of noted evangelist Dwight L. Moody.
