Josep Costa i Hugas (Torroella de Montgrí, February 14, 1827 - Torroella de Montgrí, May 26, 1881) was an internationally renowned musician, composer and guitarist. He studied law and practiced law. Despite the scant published work, at the beginning of the 19th century he was an important composer of music for the guitar, part of a generation of authors such as Sor or Aguado, and performers such as Julián Arcas, Antonio Cano or Josep Brocà Codina.
