Andrew Cherry (January 11, 1762 – February 12, 1812) was an Irish dramatist, songwriter, actor and theatre manager.
The son of a bookseller in Limerick, Cherry was a successful actor, and managed theatres in the provinces. He also wrote some plays, of which The Soldier's Daughter is the best. His chief claim to remembrance rests on his three songs, "The Bay of Biscay", "The Dear Little Shamrock" (or "Green Little Shamrock"), and "Tom Moody".
At the end of his life he was said to be managing a Welsh theatrical company when he died at Monmouth. (Hide extended text)...(Read all) Source : Wikipedia
