Vanessa Klassen was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada and began her journey as a clarinettist at the age of 10. In 2010, she performed a self-composed piece for the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. In 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016, she was a member of the National Youth Band of Canada. She performed with the Brandon University Clarinet Choir at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest in Louisiana in 2014. In the following year, she was a member of the "Clarinet Belles" quartet representing Manitoba, who placed third at the National Music Festival (Edmonton, AB, Canada). She competed in the National competition once again in 2016, as the woodwind representative of Saskatchewan. Vanessa finds enjoyment in recording music, has posted over 100 mp3s on www.free-scores.com, and has made several homemade CDs. She recently completed her Bachelor of Music degree with Dr. Cathy Wood at Brandon University and her Master of Music degree at The Ohio State University with Dr. Caroline Hartig.
