Vanessa Klassen was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada and began her journey as a clarinettist at the age of 10. In 2010, she performed a self-composed piece for the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. In 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016, she was a member of the National Youth Band of Canada. She performed with the Brandon University Clarinet Choir at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest in Louisiana in 2014.
