Some say that Stagnelius would have been as famous as
Shelley if he had written his poems in English instead
of a backwater language like Swedish. There are only
six Stagnelius poems translated into English - and this
is one of them. In Swedish called Näcken - about a
mythical demon who lures people into the water by
playing the fiddle.
