Ajoutée par magataganm, 08 Mar 2020 Edward Mechelaere (c.1827 - c.1906) was a German composer and organist in the classical/romantic period. Nothing is known of the life of Mechelaere however a small collection of his works remain including this Missa in F Major for Chorus (SATB) and Organ in 1880. Missa solemnis is Latin for solemn mass, and is a genre of musical settings of the mass ordinary, which are festively scored and render the Latin text extensively, opposed to the more modest Missa brevis. In French, the genre is "Messe solennelle". The terms came into use in the classical period and typically apply to mass in the form of 4 movements: Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus & Agnus Dei Source: Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missa_solemnis). Although originally written for Chorus (SATB) and Organ, I created this Interpretation of the Missa Solemnis in F Major for Winds (Flute, Oboe, English Horn & Bassoon) & Strings (2 Violins, Viola & Cello). |
