The "Coventry Carol" is an English Christmas carol dating from the 16th century. The carol was traditionally performed in Coventry in England as part of a mystery play called The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors. The play depicts the Christmas story from chapter two in the Gospel of Matthew: the carol itself refers to the Massacre of the Innocents, in which Herod ordered all male infants under the age of two in Bethlehem to be killed, and takes the form of a lullaby sung by mothers of the doo...(+)

I like this setting very much, but I believe that the part for the Bb clarinet in bars 46 to 60 has not been transposed. It needs to be 1 full tone higher and the key signature should be D major. the passage sounds alright as written if played by a C instrument, but not for a Bb one. Regards Fritjof

Hi. I have a few issues with this score. First, you say it's in G minor, while in the PDF, the clarinet part is clearly in concert A minor. Also,it appears the key signature was never added to account for F-sharp and C-sharp. If you were to play what is actually written in that score, it would not sound very good. Also, why does the bassoon part have 2 flats if no other instruments are in G-minor? It seems there are inconsistencies between the B-flat clarinet and bassoon.
