1. Ténor ou Soprano (en Ré majeur / in D major / in
D-Dur)
2. Baryton ou Contralto (en Do majeur / in C major / in
C-Dur)
avec accompᵗ d’Orgue mélodium ad lib.
Only the second one (for medium voices) is available,
and this is what the [français] Part provides. (To add
insult to injury, the original edition only shows one
verse, and the Nouvelle Edition begins to
differ…)
The first one (for high voices), however, served as
basis for the English setting, which is therefore made
available here.
Attempts to “cross-pollinate” between available
editions and taste have been made by your
publisher.
This Mu͒seScore 3 file contains three Parts:
• main part — English, repeat unrolled,
laid out on 8 pages ISO A4, correct playback
• compact — English, uses repeat but
comes on merely 5 pages
• français — French in C major, varies
between verses so is unrolled as well
The Parts have a different length so caveat software
bugs :/
This score uses adjusted off-times (note lengths) for
more realistic playback, which is useful as a vocalist
training tool.
Performed at ca. 76 bpm (the rit. part is very
ad-libitum and extremely drawn-out), with a light
ritardando to embellish a piano trill.
