Carl Mikuli (20 October 1819 in Czerniowce - 21 May 1897 in Lwów, then in Austria-Hungary) was a pianist, composer, conductor and teacher.
He is most well known as an editor of works by Frédéric Chopin, his teacher. He later became a teaching assistant to Chopin. His students included Moriz Rosenthal, Raul Koczalski, Aleksander Micha³owski, Jaroslaw Zieliñski and Kornelia Parnas.
Dover Publications currently publishes reprints of his 1879 editions of Chopin's piano music. His goal, as stated in the foreword of the edition, is was to provide more reliable editions and he used several verified sources most of which were written or corrected by Chopin himself. Mikuli also took detailed notes of Chopin's comments made in lessons and interviewed witnesses of Chopin's performances by musical authorities.
