Hans Matthison-Hansen (1807 - 1890) Danemark Hans Matthison-Hansen ( 6 February 1807 in Flensburg - 7 January 1890 in Roskilde ) was a Danish organist , composer and painter.
Matthison-Hansen showed early artistic installations, equally divided between music and visual art . At the age of 16, he came to Copenhagen and became a student at the Academy of Fine Arts with Eckersberg as his teacher. After a few years of studies as a painter, however, his musical nature gained more and more ground, and under the influence of the musical circles, where he regularly traveled as a quartet player , and by Kuhlau and Weyse , he decided to concentrate on a musical career. He especially devoted himself to organ playing, and as early as 1832 Weyse acquired him the much coveted post of cathedral organist in Roskilde., a position he held until his death.
Here he developed into a significant organ player, especially in the free imagination and improvisation , where his imaginative natural could break through unhindered. As such, he attracted a lot of attention on a number of concert tours, which over the years he made partly to Norway and Sweden, partly to Germany and London. In 1857 he became a Knight of Dannebrog and in 1869 titular professor
He was the father of, among others, the organ virtuoso and composer Gottfred Matthison-Hansen and the organist and composer Waage Weyse Matthison-Hansen , who succeeded his father in the post as organist in Roskilde. (Retracter)...(lire la suite) Source de l'extrait biographique : Wikipedia
