Franz Liszt (1811 - 1886) Hongrie Franz Liszt (Liszt Ferenc en hongrois) est un compositeur, transcripteur et pianiste virtuose austro-hongrois, né à Doborján1 (Autriche) le 22 octobre 1811 et mort à Bayreuth (Allemagne) le 31 juillet 1886.
Liszt est le père de la technique pianistique moderne et du récital. Avec lui naissent l’impressionnisme au piano, le piano orchestral — Mazeppa, la quatrième Étude d'exécution transcendante — et le piano littéraire — les Années de pèlerinage. Innovateur et promoteur de l'« œuvre d'art de l'avenir » (la « musique de l'avenir » étant une invention des journalistes de l'époque) Liszt influença et soutint plusieurs figures majeures du XIXe siècle musical : Richard Wagner, Hector Berlioz, Camille Saint-Saëns, Bedrich Smetana, Edvard Grieg et Alexandre Borodine. the lieder of Franz Liszt
for baritone and string
quartet goes back to his
collaboration with
Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau,
recording some of these
lieder for the German
broadcasting company
formerly known as Sender
Freies Berlin (SFB).
Since then, Reimann has
continued to be
fascinated by Liszt's
thrilling harmony and
unconventional treatment
of the voice. Here, he
has compiled a cycle
containing seven lieder
from Liszt's middle and
late periods, arranged so
that each song is the
logical continuation of
its predecessor. Liszt's
fundamental harmony has
been retained, but the
registers have been
altered to such an extent
that they appear in a
completely new light.

inspired by the

promised a virtuoso piece
in 1922 following Franz
Liszt's “Hungarian
Rhapsodies.†Work
progressed slowly and
d'Aranyl only received
the music four days
before the première
– but she still
gave a brilliant
performance.
