Much of the composer's works show neo-classical features, which is also the case in Sarabande et Allegro where the texture is predominantly melody-dominated homophony, perfect cadences are frequently heard and modulations to related keys occur. Grovlez's D minor Sarabande is in a steady, triple metre, superbly contrasted by the fast Allegro, composed in the relative major. “Sara bande et Finale is a nice piece by Raymond Gallois Montbrun for Bb or C Trumpet and Piano accompaniment. Quite difficult, this piece is great for recitals or concert. Starting with the Piano for just six measures before the Trumpet Solo, the sarabande has a slow tempo. The finale is faster, Allegro, and features a period with solo Piano before evolving into Vivo. It features the score and parts for Bb or C Trumpet. Raymond Gallois Montbrun (1918-1994) was a French violinist and composer who won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome and the Grand Prix de Paris. He later became the director of the Paris Conservatoire. He composed many symphonic pieces, an opera, a quartet and many pieces for Solo Piano, Violin and Piano and other instruments.”.

Erik Saties Trois Sarabandes were composed in September 1887 and based on the poetry of J.P. Contamine de Latour (1867-1926). The second Sarabande is dedicated to Maurice Ravel. The Sarabande is a Renaissance dance in 3/4 time. Originally for the Piano, these three works are very slow, rich in harmony and dreamy in mood, making them excellent vehicles to show off the rich texture of the five-part Trombone ensemble.

The three movements are about 12 minutes in length and can be performed by moderate to advanced performers (the 1st part is in alto clef and reaches a high E-flat, but the other parts are more moderate in difficulty.
