Born in Verona, since childhood he has cultivated his passion for opera. He graduated in singing at the Music State Conservatory ?F.E. Dall?Abaco? in Verona under the guidance of the Tenor Danilo Cestari. During 1991/92 he took part in the Baroque singing workshop ?Il teatro musicale veneziano del ?600? (about venetian musical plays in 1600) at the ?Scuola di Musica Antica di Venezia? playing ?Il Medoro? of Francesco Lucio at the Goldoni Theatre in Venice. He improves his studies further with the conductor Paolo Vaglieri and with the mezzo-soprano Claudia Clarich. Finalist at many singing contests such as ?Katia Ricciarelli contest? in 1991 and ?AS.LI.CO. contest? in 1993. In 2002 he obtained a diploma in conducting at the "Regia Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna under the direction of Corrado De Sessa. He has great knowledge of Riccardo Zandonai?s opera and chamber works, an author to whom he feels very connected. In 1994 during the celebrations at the 50th anniversary of the composer's death, Ciro Passilongo held an acclaimed concert in Zandonai?s native city of Rovereto. Since 1988 he has toured Italy and Europe, performing music from the 700?s to contemporary music. He has performed many roles including Beppe in "Rita" by Gaetano Donizetti, Arlecchino in "Pagliacci" by Ruggero Leoncavallo with the orchestra and choir of the ?Arena di Verona?; Ruiz in "Il trovatore" by Giuseppe Verdi at the Politeama Theatre in Lecce. He has also collaborated with Venice?s ?La Fenice? Theatre during the Federico Garcia Lorca?s Commemoration concert in Granada (Spain); in Mestre (Toniolo Theatre), in "Les Noces" by Igor Stravinskij, in ?La Rondine? by Giacomo Puccini, in ?Death in Venice? by Benjamin Britten and in ?La traviata? by Giuseppe Verdi. As a conductor he has to his credit various concerts including "Le Modèle Masqué" by Ruggero Leoncavallo, world première of ?La Rosa di Corfù? operetta, cantatas by choir and small orchestra ?La Scala di Giacobbe? and ?La consegna dell?anello?, all by Puccio Migliaccio. At the Teatro Comunale of Belluno he conducted the first performance in modern times of the ?Telefunken? (Marcia) by Riccardo Zandonai, the orchestral version. He is also reviser. For publisher Sonzogno he has revised the original manuscript of the Symphonic Poem ?La nuit de Mai? by Ruggero Leoncavallo with the conductor Paolo Vaglieri and the Symphony Orchestra of Savona.
