Son of Ira Sankey, Allen studied civil engineering and architecture at Princeton University, graduating in 1897. In 1898, he became president of the Biglow & Main music publishers in New York City. He also served as vice-president of the Leeds and Catlin Phonograph Company, and on the Advisory Board of the Greenich Bank. His works include:
