As a child, Leila lived in MalÂta and McConÂnelsÂville, Ohio. In 1881, she marÂried Charles H. Morris. Leila was acÂtive in the MethÂodÂist church, camp meetÂings, and song writÂing, auÂthorÂing more than 1,000 Gospel songs. When her eyes beÂgan to fail in 1913, her son built a 28-foot blackÂboard with overÂsized staff lines, so she could conÂtinÂue comÂposÂing.
