L’Afterneath sonne comme son look, un sorcier qui jaillit d’une grotte imaginaire et paré au combat. Vous êtes le sorcier, ou la sorcière, et la grotte est le signal de votre instrument, vaste, expansif et magique. Vous voulez entrer Alors lancez votre dé à 20 faces ! A l’intérieur, un reflet de lumière d’une source inconnue attire votre oeil et vous remarquez un éclat bizarre sur les murs de la grotte. Vous vous approchez timidement des murs de la grotte. En posant délicatement votre main sur le mur de la grotte, vous sentez la roche bouger. La grotte est vivante ! Inquiet, vous soufflez bruyamment et ce bruit résonne à travers le paysage sous-terrain. A l’écouter de plus près, il semblerait que les répétitions de votre voix soient en fait un essaim de courts délais numériques qui peuvent être utilisés pour créer des reverbs sauvages et caverneuses ou bien de brefs délais rythmiques aux caractéristiques étranges. Prenez un moment pour évaluer vos scores d’Intelligence et de Sagesse ainsi que votre inventaire de sorts magiques avant d’aller plus loin. Vous disposez de 7 sorts... Allez-vous jeter le sort Length, qui contrôle la longueur de la chute de la reverb Et celui de Diffuse, qui ajuste la diffusion de la reverb Avec votre baguette magique (ou simplement le réglage) au minimum, la reverb est plus tranchante et avec plus d’attaque, alors qu’au maximum elle est plus ambiante et neutre. Submergé par la peur, vous appeler Dampen. Alors que vous l’incanter, vous remarquez qu’une variation à l’inverse des aiguilles d’une montre donne un son plus brillant, alors qu’en brandissant votre baguette magique dans l’autre sens vous entendez un son plus sombre avec des aiguës plus douces. On dirait presque que votre magie change la densité des murs de la grotte et ainsi les caractéristiques sonores de la reverb ! A une autre page de votre livre de magie se trouve Drag qui sépare les lignes de délai numériques individuelles en les tirant depuis la structure même du temps et de l’espace vers un horizon inconnu duquel ils ne reviendront jamais. Les positions supérieures de Drag rapprocheront les lignes de délai pour un effet plus typé reverb. Avec le Drag vers la gauche les lignes de délai s’éloignent pour un effet de délai typé ping-pong. Le Drag peut être contrôlé en CV ou par une pédale d’expression grâce à l’entrée EXP sur le côté et selon 9 modes différents sélectionnés grâce au réglage Mode. Ces modes sont : non-quantifié, non-quantifié avec variation, volt/octave non-quantifié, gamme chromatique, gamme majeure, gamme mineure, gamme pentatonique, octaves & quintes et octaves. Ces modes changent radicalement la manière dont Drag fonctionne, surtout en utilisant un CV ou une pédale d’expression. Reflect altère la profondeur de la grotte et aussi la régénération de la reverb. Ceci agit comme un réglage de feedback et ira jusqu’à l’auto-oscillation s’il est lancé par un utilisateur de niveau supérieur. Augmentez-le pour obtenir plus d’écho. Enfin, Mix altère l’équilibre alchimique entre le signal en entrée et l’effet. L’Afterneath ne coupe jamais le signal d’origine mais elle réduit le niveau du signal en entrée au fur et à mesure que vous augmentez ce réglage. L’Afterneath possède un chemin audio tout analogique, un chemin de délai tout numérique, un bypass avec buffer avec la technologie Flex-Switch et des trails en option. Chaque Afterneath est fabriquée par un mélange de robots et d’humains dans la grotte d’Akron en Ohio aux Etats-Unis. Modes Le réglage Mode change la manière dont le réglage Drag fonctionne et le couleur de la LED indique le mode sélectionné. 1) Non-quantifié : réponse douce et non-quantifiée sur toute l’étendue d’opération. 2) Non-quantifié avec variation : réponse douce et non-quantifiée sur toute l’étendue d’opération mais avec une variation musicale pareille au réglage varispeed d’un délai à bande vintage anglais. Le Drag se décalera derrière les changements de réglage ou de CV, puis rattrapera rapidement le décalage. 3) Volt/octave non-quantifié : doux et non-quantifié mais fait pour s’aligner avec la courbe 1v/octave pour permettre la modulation mélodique de l’audio dans le buffer ou le contrôle de la fréquence d’auto-oscillation tel un oscillateur contrôlé par voltage. 4) Gamme chromatique : quantification 1v/octave à la gamme chromatique. 5) Gamme majeure : quantification 1v/octave à la gamme majeure. 6) Gamme mineure : quantification 1v/octave à la gamme mineure. 7) Gamme pentatonique : quantification 1v/octave à la gamme pentatonique. 8) Octaves & quintes : quantification 1v/octave pour omettre tout sauf les octaves et les quintes.9) Octaves : quantification 1v/octave pour omettre tout sauf les octaves.
