Ajoutée par magataganm, 21 Aoû 2013 Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750) was a German composer, organist, harpsichordist, violist, and violinist of the Baroque period. He enriched many established German styles through his skill in counterpoint, harmonic and motivic organisation, and the adaptation of rhythms, forms, and textures from abroad, particularly from Italy and France. Bach's compositions include the Brandenburg Concertos, the Mass in B minor, the The Well-Tempered Clavier, his cantatas, chorales, partitas, Passions, and organ works. His music is revered for its intellectual depth, technical command, and artistic beauty. The Cantata "Lobt ihn mit Herz und Munden" (Praise Him with Heart and Voice) was written for the Feast of Nativity of St John the Baptist. It derives from a chorale by Ludwig Humbold and from Isaiah 61, verse 10 and although this Alto Aria: "Sich in Gott und Jesu freuen" (Rejoice in God and Jesus) from the was originally written for Alto, Tenor, Bass; 4-part Chorus (SATB), Flute, Oboes, Violins, Viola & continuo, I created this arrangement for Wind Ensemble (Flutes (2), Oboe, Bb Clarinet, English Horn, French Horn & Bassoon).
