| Ajoutée par douglas-brooks-davies, 29 Oct 2013 Originally for violin and piano (already uploaded on Free-Scores) this little piece of salon music has a distinctive charm and simplicity. Probably written in the 1840s, and clearly reminiscent of Albert's songs, it has a straightforward ABA structure which I have elaborated slightly in this flute version. Purists may object, but I thought the Mendelssohnian charm of the piece justified my taking the liberty of making it available to flute choirs. Anyway, it's great fun and would make a splendid encore to a concert. Initial copy-text: The Collected Compositions of HRH The Prince Consort, ed. W.G.Cusins (London, n.d. [1882?]), pp. 220-21. Queen Victoria authorised this edition from her Master of the Queen’s Musick, so we can trust its fidelity to the Prince’s intentions. | |||
