Bourree in E minor is a popular lute piece, the fifth movement from Suite No.1 in E minor for lute, BWV 996. The piece is probably one of the most well-known among guitarists. The task for the two interpreters is to make this little marvel of motif variations audible through phrasing, articulation and agogic, and not to equalize everything that is artistic through mechanical, metronomic play. Therefore it makes no sense to offer a computer-generated MP3. Make up your own phrasing! The main task in the duo is to form a homogeneous body of sound out of two people. Therefore, the basic requirement is that when playing as a duo, everyone masters their voice as in a solo piece and also knows the other voice so well that he understands the meaning of his part in the duo (i.e. voice leading or accompaniment or additional continuation of a line, etc.) A bourree is a dance from France with a fast duple meter and an upbeat. The bourree was popular as a ballroom dance during the reign of Louis XIV of France. The Bouree by J.S. Bach was not composed as a dance. Nevertheless, some elements of the dance are integrated into the piece.
