Added by alfredo17, 19 Nov 2020 We do not know much about the life of František Vaněřovský (also Vanerovsky, Wanerovsky, Wanerzovsky, ca. 1765 – 1834 Prague). He served as horn player in the orchestra of the ‘Vaterländisches Theater auf dem Kapuzinerplatze’ in Prague, played masterly the trombone and was since 1813 principal trumpeter of the ‘Ständetheater’ Prague. He composed some pieces for wind instruments and made arrangements for wind ensembles. The ‘Seven pieces from the opera Palmira’ are preserved in the National Museum Prague (Sign. XLII E 314) and stem from the collection of Count Christian Philipp Clam-Gallas, who maintained an own orchestra at the end of the eighteenth century in Prague. The seven pieces are arrangements for the rare instrumentation clarinet and 3 basset horns, a specialty of the Clam-Gallas music: no. 1-3 are from the opera ‘Palmira, regina di Persia’ by Antonio Salieri (1750 - 1825), no. 4 is a composition by Franz Krommer ( František Kramář, imperial court composer in Vienna, 1760 – 1831), no. 6 is by Vanerovsky himself. |
