Joseph Ohnewald (1781 - 1856) was a German composer born in Heuchlingen, Germany. After studying at Augsburg (1804, "Hoc tempore Rhetorices Studiosus"), he went back to Heuchlingen in 1811, took over his deceased father's Store and became Kapellmeister of the local Catholic church.

The English noun mass is derived from Middle Latin missa. The Latin word was adopted in Old English as mæsse (via a Vulgar Latin form *messa), and was sometimes glossed as sendnes (i.e. 'a sending, dismissi...
