The Cebell (also sometimes spelt "Cibell") is a musical piece popular in the Baroque era, that is similar in character to the Gavotte. The origins of the name lies in Jean Baptiste Lully's opera Atys, in which the chorus praises the goddess Cybele. Later Cebells were written for voice or instruments like trumpet or harpsichord. This particular Cebell by the English composer Purcell, runs for around 1 minute and 30 seconds, and has no accidentals as it is in the key of C major. As with much Baroq...(+)
