Sir George was very committed to composing simple pieces for amateur musicians to perform and thiscollection of three songs are a fine example. Dyson's texts were taken from the works of some of the greatest poets- John Bunyan Shakespeare Masefield and in this case Robert Herrick. The words are well set the music sounds fresh and simple and the melodic lines are attractive.
