Be At Peace takes its lyrics from Max Ehrmann's classic poem Desiderata, the title of which can roughly be translated from Latin as needful things. The poem reads as a set of advice to a younger person on how to best live their life.This setting is appropriate for any time of the year, but perhaps especially at graduations, baptisms, confirmations, or any event signifying a life transition. My hope is that the simple voicing with minimal divisi allows the piece to work for varied-sized choirs and choirs of all ages.
