Roger Fiske (1910-1987) studied with Howells at the Royal College; 1937 gained a DMus from Oxford; 1939 joined the BBC; 1968-75 became general editor of Eulenburg Scores; spent 20 years in the BBC, then became a freelance writer; Fiske also wrote about Beethoven's string quartets, and English theatre music; Sonata written for Frederick Thurston and Fiske played the piano part at its first performance. |
