"WLP music editor Keith Kalemba has intelligently arranged this Irish Christmas carol for four-part chorus with an appealing instrumental duo of flute and viola. We begin with an introduction reminiscent of medieval instrumental performance?a string drone under the ornamented melodic tune on the flute. The soprano melody on the first verse is complemented by the tenor line in a clever, highly effective canon at the eighth note. The instruments reappear as a musical conclusion for each stanza and an interlude introduces verse 3 for soprano and alto voices in canon. Verse 4, for a cappella men's voices, musically builds to the final verse for full four-part chorus and instruments. This well designed arrangement will prove to be a worthy challenge for your seasonal choral library. A violin part may be purchased to substitute for viola.".
