Added by bernard-dewagtere, 28 Dec 2010 Pictures at an Exhibition ? A Remembrance of Viktor Hartmann? is a famous suite in ten movements composed for piano by Modest Mussorgsky in 1874 and later orchestrated by various musicians whose most famous is that of Maurice Ravel in 1922. Vladimir Stasov comment : "Two Jews: Rich and Poor. Stasov's explanatory title elucidates the personal names used in Mussorgsky's original manuscript. Published versions display various combinations, such as "Two Polish Jews, Rich and Poor (Samuel Goldenberg and Schmuyle)". The movement is thought to be based on two separate extant portraits.
