Added by alastair-lewis, 13 Jul 2011 The Scots poem Auld lang syne is attributed to Robert Burns, though he himself acknowledged that his version was derived from earlier works. Burns submitted the his poem to the Scots Musical Museum whereupon he proclaimed: "The following song, an old song, of the olden times, and which has never been in print, nor even in manuscript until I took it down from an old man." The poem is generally sung to a Scots folk melody, though the original tune was likely a sprightly dance played at a much quicker pace. The song is well known in the English-speaking world, and is traditionally used to celebrate the start of the New Year on the stroke of midnight. This free sheet music is for trumpet and guitar duet.
