Added by alastair-lewis, 25 Oct 2011 This Minuet arranged for guitar duet is in the key of B minor. It has a time signature of 3/4. Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683 – 1764) was an important French composer and music theorist during the Baroque era. In his later life Rameau also composed Operas, and replaced Jean-Baptiste Lully as the pre-eminent French composer in this genre. He also was an excellent composer for the harpsichord. His "Treatise on Harmony" (1722) won him fame as a music theorist. He was almost 50 years old when he began writing operas; he was an innovative composer and his first opera "Hippolyte et Aricie" (1733) caused a great stir for its revolutionary use of harmony. |
