Added by alastair-lewis, 31 Oct 2011 The duration of this guitar piece is 2 minutes. There is much practice of 3-part harmony in this work. The original theme is restyled at bar 43 in an arpeggio form. The home key of this piece is C major, however it modulates into the key of A minor at bar 26, and then returns to the home key at bar 43. Born in Florence, Italy, Matteo Carcassi (1792 - 1853) began learning the piano as a child, and followed this by learning the guitar. From 1820 Carcassi conducted his career from Paris, where he had stiff competition from another Italian guitarist Ferdinando Carulli. There was nevertheless a voracious market for his solo guitar compositions. He had a subscription to Francesco Molino's "Nouvelle Méthode pour la Guitare", which was a popular teaching book at the time. Carcassi's compositions appealed to students of the guitar as the pieces were technically accessible. However, his works have been performed and recorded by many sublime performers as well. Mp3 recording from youtube is performed by Vabejas Sheet central : | Les recreations des commencans, ou choix de 24 petites pieces (27 sheet music) | |
