Added by alastair-lewis, 08 Dec 2011 This music has a total duration of 2 minutes. It is a good practice for slurs. There are also many scalar elements, and the entire length of the fretboard is used. The key signature of this music is A major, and the time signature is 4/4. Born in Florence, Italy, Matteo Carcassi (1792 - 1853) began learning the piano as a child, and followed this by learning the guitar. From 1820 Carcassi conducted his career from Paris, where he had stiff competition from another Italian guitarist Ferdinando Carulli. There was nevertheless a voracious market for his solo guitar compositions. He had a subscription to Francesco Molino's "Nouvelle Méthode pour la Guitare", which was a popular teaching book at the time. Carcassi's compositions appealed to students of the guitar as the pieces were technically accessible. However, his works have been performed and recorded by many sublime performers as well. Mp3 recording from youtube is performed by Per-Olov Kindgren. Sheet central : | 25 études mélodiques et progressives. 1re suite de la méthode (38 sheet music) | |
