Added by magataganm, 27 May 2012 "Suite Española" (Op 45, No. 1, Mvt. II) Cataluña Isaac Albéniz?s Suite española, Op. 47, is a suite for solo piano. It is mainly composed of works written in 1886 which were grouped together in 1887, in honor of the Queen of Spain. Like many of Albeniz?s works for the piano, these pieces depict different regions and musical styles in Spain. This is the transcription of the Cataluña movement No. 2 by Albéniz. It premiered as a piano performance in Paris in January 1899. Since it has been transcribed for classical guitar by Miguel Llobet, it has become one of the staples of classical guitar music. It has been performed and recorded by guitarists such as John Williams, Milos Janjic, Charles Mokotoff and many others. It is usually played in the key of G minor.
